After setting the magic Pike free, lazy Emelya does not hesitate to immediately make use of her promise. He orders: "By the pike's wish, at my command, pails, go home by yourself!" The pales obediently start moving, albeit splashing the ice-cold water about as they do so. Luckily, the village is just nearby - its wooden homes can be seen behind the snowdrifts on the background. The beautiful winter landscape is at once magical and realistic, with Emelya taking the focal point in his bright and cozy looking garments. The image of a crowned pike, however, reminds one that it is a fairy tale after all.

The box is made from papier mache. It opens without a hinge, sits flat (no legs), and has a red interior. Signed with names of the artist, composition, and village. The sides are decorated with an elegant gold and silver ornament. Lacquer is in very good condition. Two stickers on the bottom of the box - one with the name of the village (Kholui) and the other the original Russian price tag, as well as a "Made in Russia" inscription.
