Fedoskino artist N. Baeva painted this scene showing a young woman sitting on a fallen branch and gently touching her braided hair. She looks out into the water, perhaps noticing something there, or perhaps just letting her thoughts run free. The gold leaf used in her blue dress and in a few other places is radiant and adds a nice elegance to the understated and tranquil composition. The predominant colors used throughout are various shades of green, from the grass and trees to the sides and bottom of the box. The inside is red. The box is made out of high quality papier mache has a hinge at the left. It is signed with the name of the artist and village. Quite lovely.
