The gallant Ivan Tsarevich shuttles both the princess and the Firebird out of harm's way in this scene from the fairy tale "Ivan Tsarevich, the Firebird and the Grey Wolf". The vivid colors and fine details here are very pleasing to the eye, while a visible mist adds an aura of mystery, if not danger. Especially beautiful are the four figures in the center, Ivan, the Princess, the Firebird and the horse, all of which are intricately drawn with fine accents of radiant gold. While the drawing itself is superb, the artist, M. Shutova, has gone further and drawn a highly elaborate and creative gold ornament, as well. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and sits on four small legs. The base color is black and the interior is red. It has a hinge at the side. Signed with the name of the artist, title and village.
