Artist Profile - Natalya Bazhenova
Born in 1954 in Moscow, Russia. Graduated from the Art and Drawing Department of Moscow Teacher's College. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia and International Art Fund. From 1973-1989 was director of the children's art studio "Rainbow" in city of Khimki. Since 1993, has been art director of the gallery "Aquarius". |
Since 1977 Bazhenova has participated in more than 150 local and international exhibitions. Among her most notable achievements, she was a prize-winner of the painting competitions "Gold Brush" (1994), "The Alternative" (1994), and "Arteady-98" (1998, for the book "The Muses of Moscow".) She also received a special diploma at an international art exhibition of the Pacific Ocean Region in Tokyo, Japan (1994). Bazhenova's works are presented in several Russian and international catalogs and magazines. Her paintings can be found in museums in Sochi, Yoshkar-Ola, Vitebsk, Moscow, Skopye (Macedonia), and in galleries and private collections throughout the world. Films featuring Bazhenova have been made in Russia, Yugoslavia, Spain, USA, Korea, Japan, Bahrain. Russian press has described Bazhenova's style as "esoteric art" and art critics applaud the "magical force" of her drawings. Bazhenova is married, has a son and daughter and lives just outside of Moscow.
