Artist Profile - Igor Karpov
Igor Karpov, born in 1966, comes from a family of skilled Fedoskino artists. He was brought up on the traditions of Fedoskino lacquer miniatures and the techniques that he learned as a graduate of the Fedoskino art school, but he also likes to go out on his own and create truly interesting and unusual themes. Karpov says that he almost never does works "to order" because repeating or copying drawings stifles his imagination. Karpov has been known to share his ideas with friends (like Mikhail Shelukhin) and sometimes they even work together on some boxes. Karpov divides his time between the village Fedoskino and Moscow. He appreciates good company and humor, loves nature and enjoys travelling and fishing. He has a daughter. |
