The sea, the sun, and the moon are all agitated as Ivan rides off on the humpbacked pony to fulfill the king's latest impossible wish. The kingdom, with its shining golden domes is resting peacefully below; a swan ship nearby is setting for its course with raised sails. Composition is decorated with four gold and silver corner ornaments painted against teal background.

The box is made from papier mache, sits flat with no legs, and has a hinge at the top. The interior is red. Bottom of the box is signed with the artist's name, name of the composition, and village. Lacquer is in excellent condition.
